 Richard Rogers    

Mr. Rogers... 

   is in his second year as band director at Dan McCarty Middle School. Prior to Dan McCarty, he taught Instructional Technology at Coconut Palm Elementary School in Miramar (FL) and served as Band Director at Boynton Beach High School and as  Assistant Band Director at Tradewinds Middle School in Palm Beach County. Mr. Rogers retired as a Band Director from the Knox County Tennessee School system. Prior to that he held band positions at Piper High School and opened Coral Springs High School as their first Band Director in Broward County.

   A native of Key West Florida, he started playing the saxophone in the fourth grade and continues to play today as a member of the Port St. Lucie Community Band where he is the Principal player on the Alto Saxophone.  He has been active with church choirs serving as an Interim Choir Director, Hand Bell Director, substitute Choir Director, Tour Manager for the Youth Choir and as a singer. Mr. Rogers is currenty is involve with the music program at the Indian River Presbyterian Church here in Fort Pierce. 

   Mr. Rogers holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Florida State University and a Master of Science degree in Music Education from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Mr. Rogers also holds membership in Phi Beta Mu (Honorary Bandmasters Fraternity), the National Association for Music Education, the National Band Association, the Technology Institute for Music Education, the Florida Bandmasters Association, and is a Honorary Life-Time member of the East Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association.

   Mr. Rogers is married and as two grown children and three granddaughters. This is Mr. Rogers’ 40th year serving as a public school music educator.
